Guild Charter
Silver Tears of Flame was formed on the Quellious server in the spring of 2004 for the purpose of providing a guild setting for those people who, for whatever reason, could not find a suitable home from among the existing guilds.
Our member base is comprised of friends new and old, many of whom have shared adventures and experiences for many years.
A family-style guild in every sense of the word, our membership includes many out-of-game couples and families.
OUR MANDATE:
To create and provide a comfortable atmosphere for our members in which they can feel at home and at ease logging into, and in which to gain the maximum enjoyment form their time spent in-game.
To work together as a cohesive unit to help each member achieve their individual and collective goals, in regards to progression, gear, levels and AAs, etc.
To explore and conquer new lands and areas together, to push our limits and expand our horizons, and to experience the Everquest world in a no-pressure, pleasant environment.
OUR REQUIREMENTS:
Adventurers with a team mentality, who are willing to put at least as much into their guild as they wish to take away from it.
We have no class, race, level, number of AAs, etc. restrictions, nor do we have required play times or raid attendance policies.
The bulk of our members are level 60+, but all levels are welcomed - low level characters grow into high level characters eventually.
Adults are preferred; more to the point, adult attitudes and personalities are required.
Those with poor or immature attitudes or selfish motives need not apply.
A good sense of humor is a plus, although we do not tolerate offensive or abusive behavior toward each other or those outside the guild.
While it is understood that not all guild/player associations work out for both sides all the time, some sense of loyalty to the guild is expected.
We don't want a "revolving door"; we want our members to be happy enough to want to stay once they arrive.
RECRUITING POLICY:
SToF is not, nor will ever be, an openly recruiting guild.
Our members are personally selected on a "person by person" basis by the officers, based on personality as well as chemistry and the ability to mesh with the existing guild dynamic.
Alts are always welcome, and are in fact encouraged, once the main character has spent some time with the guild.
Because of the careful entrance policy very few members are ever asked to leave or are removed from the guild for indiscretions or violations; in extreme cases, however, such matters will be dealt with at an officer's discretion.
No players who are removed, and very few who remove themselves, will be reinstated into the guild. (i.e. the door swings more freely from inside than out).
LOOT POLICY:
SToF uses a random number generator (RNG) to determine looting rights on raids and in cases where more than one person may be able to use the loot in question.
Any person who can use an item drop may roll; there are no arguments or discussion over "best suited class" or "more deserving player".
Common sense and fair play will overrule personal gain or greed.
For example, a level 60 person should not roll on level 70 (no trade) spell runes; though it is not prohibited, common sense should prevail.
NO ITEM OF LOOT, QUEST OR TRADESKILL ITEM, OR ANY OTHER ITEM IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE PEOPLE IN THE GUILD AND THE SENSE OF CAMARADERIE AND GOOD WILL WITHIN THE GUILD.
Loot will always favor main characters over alts; in other words no rolling on loot for a character not currently logged on unless nobody present will use said item.
Items can always be farmed as needed. In the case of no trade items, rolling will take place as soon as the raid is all present (rezzing done, etc.), and carried out in an expedient, efficient manner.
Whining or complaining over the results of the loot system will not be tolerated.
RAID POLICY:
We currently raid once per week, Friday evenings. This may change in the future based on the wishes, interest and input of the guild. Our raid targets will depend on the attendance on a week to week basis.
We are currently working on Planes of Power progression, as well as some epics, DoN progression and spell missions.
All guild members are welcome to attend any and all guild events, with the disclaimer that anyone who is drastically below the average level of the raid attends at the risk of potential repeated deaths.
All guild members who attand raid events are permitted to participate in loot distribution (see loot rules for details) and to benefit from the rewards of winning an event (e.g., gaining a flag).
EXPECTATIONS:
In addition to those items outlined under "requirements" and "recruiting", our members are expected to follow all rules of Everquest (EQ) and Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) at all times.
Members will be considerate of their guildmates as well as those not in the guild.
All players should have maps for all zones in the game, and at least a passing ability to read and follow /loc coordinates.
All players should have the means and the inclination to be self sufficient in regards to travel and moving from place to place; repeatedly asking how to get to and from places we have been numerous times gets tiresome and irritating to the rest of the guild.
Players are required to follow pay attention to instructions while engaged in raids or other guild events; asking a question the answer to which was just provided in guild or raid chat also is tiresome and irritating.
Players will not use guild chat as their own personal auction channel to sell items, accounts, currency, etc. Players will not disrupt or harass other players, in or out of guild in tells or any public channel.
Players will not train others, "kill steal" (receiving experience from a mob that was previously engaged by another player or group) or otherwise engage in unsavory activities. Our stance on "camps": while SOE does not officially sanction the concept of camps, common sense and fair play must once again prevail here. Strictly speaking, mobs that have not been engaged, even right under another player's nose, are fair game to any and all; however, common courtesy dictates we respect others' rights to certain mobs and/or camps without hindrance.
Players are expected to conduct themselves at all times with the knowledge they are adding to the reputation of their guild, good or bad.
THE BOTTOM LINE:
SToF is about having fun and enjoying yourself. The very few rules we have and enforce around here are easy and do not require great effort or skill to follow.
Be friendly, be helpful, be considerate, be loyal.
Since its inception SToF has been respected as a mature, cohesive, intelligent team of players and friends. A good reputation is hard to get, easy to lose.
Do your part to help maintain the one we now enjoy, and to help make SToF the best guild experience it can be. |
